The design of this venue was inspired by the Doge's Palace in Venice, built in the elaborate Venetian Gothic style. When it was completed in 1908, the Hall of the Doges was called the most opulent ballroom north of San Francisco. During the 2002 restoration, the Hall of The Doges was lifted intact by crane to become the only "flying ballroom" in the world. When the new building was erected, the ballroom was carefully placed back into the new structure as the foyer to the Grand Pennington Ballroom
Spokanites hadn’t seen anything like the ornate Hall of Doges when it was completed by Cutter in 1904. Designed to emulate the elegance of Doge’s palace in Venice, Italy. Diners were transported into the world of Renaissance art and gilded scroll work 112
